How to choose a Shopify landing page builder
Choose a Shopify landing page builder on what vendors document: free plans that publish, what happens on uninstall, languages and speed. Sources linked inline.
Why you can trust us
Disclosure: we build Menaks, one of the seven tools in the comparison table. Two of its limits are worth knowing before you read that row: it accepts product pages on Amazon, AliExpress and Shopify only, for products you own or are authorized to sell, and a store holds one Menaks landing page at a time.
Every statement about another vendor comes from its own listing or help center, linked beside it. Prices, limits and ratings were read on September 17, 2026, and change often.
Do you need an app at all?
Not necessarily. In an Online Store 2.0 theme, a landing page can be an ordinary template made of sections and blocks that you add, move and edit in the theme editor. No code, no extra subscription. The cost is time: you write every line yourself, and the next product takes as long as the first.
Section Store sits close to this route. It "adds sections directly to your existing theme" and says "Customize everything in the theme editor — no code, no page builder." As of September 17, 2026: "Most sections are just 0–$9, with no recurring fee and no lock-in". section.store
Page builder apps sell a drag-and-drop canvas instead; generators draft the copy and layout from a product URL. All three routes work without code. They differ on the bill, on uninstall day, and on a second language.
Three questions that decide it
What sells is the offer and the proof on the page. The tool decides how much of that work is yours, and what you keep when you leave. Ask these in order.
- Will the free or entry plan publish what you need? A free plan that only saves drafts is a trial. Count the pages you need live, then read the limit on the listing.
- What happens to the page when you leave? Documented outcomes run from irreversible deletion to pages that stay, with the app's files left in your theme.
- Who writes the copy, and in which languages? A builder gives you layout; a generator drafts copy you still have to check. For a second language, ask: translated or written?
Speed is something to test rather than a deciding question: the only number that applies to your store is the one you measure on it.
Quick comparison
"Not checked" means we did not look for it in this review; "Not documented" means we looked and found no vendor statement, not that the feature is missing.

Start with the concern that would cost you most to get wrong; each one links to a longer guide.
If you care about price and free plans
"Free plan" means two things here. As of September 17, 2026, these free plans publish a page:
- PageFly — one published slot and 10 AI credits a month. listing
- GemPages — one published page. listing
- EComposer — one live page or section and 50 AI credits. listing
- LayoutHub — three published slots. listing
- Foxify — one published page, one section and 20 AI credits a month. listing
As of September 17, 2026, these do not publish to a live store:
- Shogun — the free plan is called Draft Mode: "Create Draft Pages - No Page Publishing". listing
- Replo — building and previewing only. listing
- DropMagic — "Cannot publish on Shopify". listing
- Instant and Zipify — free plans for development stores only. Instant · Zipify
The lowest entry paid plans we found, as of September 17, 2026, were LayoutHub Basic at $14.99 a month and Zipify Starter and Foxify Starter at $19; at the other end, Replo Starter was $119. LayoutHub · Zipify · Foxify · Replo
If you care about what happens when you leave
Each vendor decides this itself. PageFly documents that "All pages and sections created with PageFly will be removed from your store" and that "This deletion is immediate upon confirmation and is irreversible", when you remove the app with its data from inside PageFly; removal from Shopify's settings keeps the data for 24 hours. help.pagefly.io
Shogun documents the opposite: pages stay, and "some Shogun files & code will remain in your theme". Replo says "Shopify does not enable Replo to clean up unused files, so they may stay around unless they're removed manually". getshogun.com · support.replo.app
Shopify states the general case: "Some apps add code to your online store theme that isn't automatically removed when you uninstall the app". help.shopify.com Six vendors side by side, with a checklist, are in what happens to your pages when you uninstall a page builder.
If you care about honest urgency and reviews
A timer is not the problem; a timer that lies is. The FTC's staff report on dark patterns describes a "fake countdown clock that just goes away or resets when it times out". The test: when the timer hits zero, does the offer actually end? FTC staff report (PDF)
Resetting timers are a documented setting in this category. PageFly: "Countdown Restart: Use this option if you want the evergreen countdown. It automatically refreshes the countdown". GemPages: "Loop mode ON to restart the timer automatically when it finishes". Neither tells merchants to mislead anyone; whether the deadline is real is your call. help.pagefly.io · help.gempages.net
Reviews fall under a binding rule: "The Commission's Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials went into effect on October 21, 2024." FTC If a tool drafts copy, check what it does with a rating it invents. The US, EU and Turkish rules are in our guide to countdown timers, review widgets and the FTC.
If you sell in more than one language
Ask whether the second language is translated or written. GemPages "does not perform translations"; Replo has "no built-in translation feature"; PageFly's AI Translator works "with one click" on AI credits; EComposer's Auto-translate starts on its Standard plan, $25 a month as of September 17, 2026. GemPages · Replo · PageFly · EComposer
Shopify's free Translate & Adapt can "automatically translate a maximum of 2 languages"; past that, you either enter the translations by hand or pay for a translation app. For a page in nine languages, eight of them translated, that came to approximately $329 a month on Weglot Advanced, or $19.99 on Langwill Growth, as of September 17, 2026. help.shopify.com · Weglot · Langwill The full breakdown is in multilingual Shopify landing pages: translated or written?
If you want a page drafted from a product URL
This is not unique to any one tool. GemPages lists a GemAI Image-to-Layout feature that turns an image or a URL into an editable page; PagePilot says it builds pages from product links; DropMagic builds a whole store from a link, not a single page. GemPages · PagePilot · DropMagic
Use such a tool only on your own product, or one you're authorized to sell, and read what the AI wrote about ratings, reviews and deadlines before anything goes live. The AliExpress route is covered in AliExpress product URL to Shopify landing page: what to watch for.
If you are comparing PagePilot
PagePilot was rated 4.9 from 185 reviews on the Shopify App Store as of September 17, 2026, and says it "Works on your current theme, no new theme, no code". As of September 17, 2026, its App Store listing showed Lite $39 and Scaler $59 a month, while its own site listed Lite $39, Starter $59 and Scaler $99. App Store listing · pagepilot.ai/pricing
We found no PagePilot documentation on what happens after an uninstall, so ask before you build. See PagePilot alternatives for Shopify: what to compare first.
If you care about speed
Shopify sets one bar for listed apps: "Your app shouldn't reduce Lighthouse performance scores by more than 10 points", checked by "measuring the Lighthouse score before and after the app is installed". We found no independent, reproducible benchmark of page builders; the tables in circulation come from agencies or from companies selling a competing product. app requirements · storefront performance
- Duplicate your live theme and work only on the copy.
- Run Lighthouse on its preview several times, mobile preset; note the median.
- Publish one real page with the builder and repeat the runs on the same URL.
- Count what was added: in DevTools Network, filter by JS, reload, and add up the transferred size of files carrying the vendor's name.
Some tools, Menaks among them, publish only to your live theme; for those, measure the live page before and after, and count files whose names start with landing-.
Your admin's Online Store Speed score is built from home, product and collection pages; if your landing page is a Shopify page rather than a product template, the score says little about it. storefront performance
If you sell in Turkey or read Turkish
Since August 1, 2026, Turkey's Article 28/B(1) bans publishing consumer reviews from channels where the purchase cannot be verified. Resmî Gazete Our Turkish guide covers that rule and the same free-plan split: Shopify açılış sayfası nasıl yapılır.
Where Menaks fits, and where it doesn't
Menaks is a generator: paste the Amazon, AliExpress or Shopify product URL of your own product, or one you're authorized to sell, and it drafts the copy in one of nine languages and writes the page into your active theme as an ordinary Online Store 2.0 template you edit in the theme editor. Plans: Free, Pro $19.99 a month, Scale $39.99 a month. listing Its limits:
- Three sources only. Links from Etsy, eBay, Temu or a brand's own site are rejected.
- One page per store. A store holds one Menaks landing page at a time: every publish writes to the same theme template, so publishing again replaces it. On Free a second publish is blocked; on Pro and Scale it replaces the first after you confirm. The monthly publish counts are billing limits, not pages side by side.
- No right-to-left languages. Arabic and Hebrew are not supported; the app's own interface is English and Turkish only.
- Files stay when you leave. The page survives an uninstall, but its section, block, snippet and asset files stay in your theme; removing them is manual, and a theme update may not carry them over.
- Social proof. In the rating row, the AI's rating and review-count values and any urgency line are blanked by code before publish; AI-written reviews are placeholders that you must replace with real customer reviews or delete before the page goes live. A countdown is added only when you enter an end date; the code never invents one. Its "When timer ends" setting can also restart the clock, so leave it on "Hide the timer" if the offer really ends.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Shopify landing page builder?
There is no single best one, and we found no independent, reproducible benchmark that would rank them. What you can verify is each vendor's own documentation: what the free plan publishes, what happens to pages on uninstall, and how a second language is handled. As of September 17, 2026, PageFly had the most reviews in the category, 4.9 stars from 5,898 reviews, and LayoutHub the highest rating, 5.0 from 1,371. Choose on the three questions that matter for your store, not on rank.
Which Shopify landing page builders have a free plan that can publish?
As of September 17, 2026, free plans that publish a page include PageFly (one published slot and 10 AI credits a month), GemPages (one published page), EComposer (one live page or section and 50 AI credits) and LayoutHub (three published slots). Shogun's free plan is called Draft Mode and states "Create Draft Pages - No Page Publishing", Replo's free plan builds and previews only, and the free plans of Instant and Zipify run on development stores only.
Do I need a landing page app, or can I use theme sections?
You can use theme sections. In an Online Store 2.0 theme, a landing page can be an ordinary template made of sections and blocks that you add, move and edit in the theme editor, with no extra subscription. The trade is time: you write every line and lay out every section yourself, for every product. An app sells that time back, at the price of a subscription and whatever its uninstall terms say.
How do I build a Shopify landing page without code?
Pick one of three no-code routes: arrange sections in your theme editor, use a page builder app with a drag-and-drop canvas, or let a generator draft the page from a product URL. None of them needs code to publish. Code matters later: Shopify says some apps add code to your theme that isn't removed automatically when you uninstall them, and it does not guarantee that changes an app made to your theme files carry over when you update the theme.
How do I check whether a landing page builder slows down my store?
Test it on a duplicated theme. Run Lighthouse several times on the same page before and after you publish with the builder, and compare the medians rather than single scores. Shopify's published rule for listed apps is that an app shouldn't reduce Lighthouse performance scores by more than 10 points, so a larger drop in your own test is worth raising with the vendor.
